46th Avenue beach access in North Myrtle Beach now features an 85-foot-long mat which allows for increased accessibility to the beach.
Beach access mats are innovative, roll-out pathways designed to create stable, wheelchair-friendly routes over sandy terrain. These durable mats transform challenging sand into smooth, navigable surfaces, empowering individuals with mobility devices—like standard wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers—to enjoy the beach with confidence. They are a great solution to beach accessibility in Myrtle Beach.
Beach Wheelchairs
In North Myrtle Beach, beach-going wheelchairs are available for use free of charge. These chairs are sturdy and come equipped with large balloon tires for maneuvering through soft sand. Wheelchairs are available Monday through Friday at the Beach Services Warehouse. Call 843-280-5684 to reserve one.
Third-Party Wheelchair Rentals
In the event the city’s beach wheelchairs are unavailable, or if you want to have a beach wheelchair for overnight and multiple-day usage, third-party rental companies exist in the area. The city does not endorse any commercial businesses. The individual companies set rental fees and restrictions, and the City of Myrtle Beach is not responsible for any reimbursement costs.
